“In our modern world nothing may be taken for granted – not even the spring songs that herald the return of the birds.”

A WORLD-CLASS COMMUNITY MUSEUM DEDICATED TO THE LIFE AND LEGACY OF RACHEL CARSON

Join us in creating a museum that sparks wonder in our natural world, nurtures connection, celebrates courage, and catalyzes the next generation of environmental leaders through the words and wonder of Rachel Carson.

Rachel Carson:
A true witness for nature

Rachel Carson was a writer, biologist, and Montgomery County resident who is often regarded as the “Mother of the Modern Environmental Movement.” Her work celebrated the wonders of nature and challenged humankind’s often-shortsighted attempt to control it. Her landmark book, Silent Spring, raised concerns about the dangers of indiscriminate pesticide use and contributed to the passage of the country’s most fundamental environmental laws and the creation of the EPA. At Springsong, we take a wide and deep view of her rich story, philosophy, and impact.

  • Those who dwell, as scientists or laymen, among the beauties and mysteries of the earth, are never alone or weary of life.
